1934 East Indian Laurel Drop Down Secretary by Gilbert Rohde

1934 East Indian Laurel Drop Down Secretary by Gilbert Rohde

Original 1934 Art Deco drop down secretary and cabinet combination designed by Gilbert Rohde for Herman Miller. Part of the East Indial Laurel Wood series, this wonderful drop front secretary defines some of the best of Gilbert Rohde’s design elements. From the machine age satin chrome circular handle to the beautifully planned veneer patterns and even the asymetric pulls and base, Rohde has taken what was once a simple box and transformed it into a beautiful piece of furniture. This piece has been refinished in high gloss hand polished lacquer. This secretary can be used as a stand alone piece or in combination with other cabinets and shelving from the series to create a wall unit. We have a complimentary shelving unit available also.
