Bakelite & Nickel Skyscraper Striker Lighter

Bakelite & Nickel Skyscraper Striker Lighter

This rare sculptural bakelite and nickel lighter epitomizes the architectural design of the late 1920’s – early 1930’s skyscrapers of Manhattan. This striker lighter works on a very basic principle. There is cotton inside the body of the lighter that is saturated with lighter fluid. The wand has a wick on it which absorbs the fluid. When the flint bar at the side is struck with the tip of the wand, the spark causes the wick to light.
