Pair of Snack Tables by Edward Wormley for Dunbar
This rare early pair of side tables are referred to as Snack Tables, model 4856 in the Dunbar catalogue. These are the 1st production designed in 1948 by Edward Wormley for Dunbar. They are walnut with birch burl insets, and solid brass pedestal bases and handles. The later models had wood center pedastals with attached brass bases. In 1931, Edward Wormley’ began his relationship with Dunbar. By 1944 he became the Director of Design and carried the title through the 1960’s. Beginning in 1950, Edward Wormley’s participation in MOMA’s Good Design Exhibitions helped to cement his reputation as a designer of great importance.
